Owing to the flagrant disregard for Lagos State law on infectious diseases regulation (2020), the State government has sealed Sencillo Resort and warned other erring beach houses.
The operation led by the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola in conjunction with Lagos State Waterways Authority and Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture became pressing considering the danger of increasing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
An earlier visit by the DG to the resort, located along the Atlantic Ocean coastline, saw the resort hosting parties with total disdain for social distancing and gatherings exceeding 250 persons without a face mask and not adhering to other health and safety precautions.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, the DG warned owners of beach houses to refrain from hosting parties at their various residences.
He decried the flagrant disregard for regulations and laws issued by the Lagos State Government to curb the spread of the virus and warned that the State Government would not leave any stone unturned in prosecuting offenders who contravene the laws and regulations.
While enjoining the public to continue to adhere to the washing of hands, use of hand sanitizers, and compulsory use of face masks to help flatten the curve he also sealed the resort and cordon it off from use henceforth.
